Burns was a great poet and songwriter, who was popular with everyone even the lower classes. He wrote and sang about love, friendship and the human condition. He was also a keen to share his views on what was happening in the country and could tell a good ghost story.
Nearly 250 years after his birth, his songs and poems are still very popular.
